Cooking Instructions for A5 Japanese Wagyu Steak

  1. Preparation:

    • Remove the A5 Wagyu steak from the fridge and allow it to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.
    • Since A5 Wagyu is incredibly rich and marbled, it requires minimal seasoning. Lightly season both sides with just a pinch of high-quality sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.
    • Cut the steak into smaller, bite-sized portions (about 1-inch thick pieces). This helps balance the richness with smaller servings per bite, as A5 Wagyu is more indulgent than typical steaks.
  2. Cooking Method:

    • Choose a cooking surface: A heavy, well-heated cast-iron skillet or a stainless steel pan works best to ensure an even sear.
    • No extra fat needed: A5 Wagyu is heavily marbled, so additional oil is not necessary. Simply preheat your pan over medium-high heat until very hot.
  3. Searing the Steak:

    • Place the pieces of A5 Wagyu directly onto the hot skillet.
    • Sear each side for 1–2 minutes, depending on the thickness of your steak. You want a crispy, golden-brown crust, while keeping the inside tender and juicy. Avoid overcooking, as Wagyu is best enjoyed medium-rare to rare to highlight its unique texture and flavor.
    • Flip once, and sear the other side for the same duration. Keep a close eye on it, as the high-fat content means it cooks much faster than regular beef.
  4. Resting:

    • Once cooked, remove the Wagyu from the heat and let it rest for 5–10 minutes to allow the juices to settle.
    • Slice into thin pieces before serving, as this steak is extremely rich. Serving smaller, delicate portions will balance the intense flavour and luxurious mouthfeel.
  5. Serving:

    • Serve immediately for the best texture and flavour. Enjoy with light accompaniments like steamed vegetables, rice, or a simple salad to balance the richness of the steak.

Tip: Since A5 Wagyu is so rich, less is often more. Small portions go a long way, making it a perfect choice for sharing or special occasions.

This method brings out the steak's natural flavours and luxurious texture, delivering a memorable culinary experience.
